Recommended Programming Languages & Readings?

This summer, I'd like to go more into computer programming, both web and desktop. I've already gained a lot of theoretical knowledge... last summer, but I'd like to get my hands dirty this time. I've already written myself a list of books for C++, PHP and Cocoa. I'd like your thoughts on them, as well as other recommended readings: C++ Without Fear, Thinking in C++ (both volumes), The C++ Programming Language, Head First PHP & MySQL, PHP Cookbook, Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X.
