What solutions can I use to clean my keyboard/ laptop?

I don't want to buy anything specifically manufactured for this if I don't have to. Is there a household cleaning item that is safe and won't ruin the varnish of the keys? Is a heavily-diluted Pine-sol or Lysol wipes okay?
