As long as you have a job that wont be shocked, but personally since I work in the beauty business, we have a stylist with dread locks and he keeps them nice and neat. You don't want hair in your face blocking you from doing your job. many put the hair in a pony tail and wear them loose when out with friends. Short dreads are cool too and easy to maintain.
