Pedestrians and a two lane roundabout?

There is a sign that says that vehicles going INTO the roundabout are supposed to yield to pedestrians, but what about vehicles going OUT OF the roundabout. Sometimes a car or truck will try and exit the roundabout before I'm finished crossing the two lanes. A few have almost run me over. A vehicle can get on and off the roundabout before I can physically cross. If they stop for me, it will hold up traffic in the roundabout (particularly if it's a transport). What's supposed to be done?
